 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

AAEA is now accepting applications from students for the Summer Intern Program for 2008. One college student in agricultural communications with interest in farm magazine reporting will have the great experience of working with the staff of The Corn and Soybean Digest magazine in Minneapolis, Minn. Under the supervision of Editor Greg Lamp, duties will include general farm reporting, editing, researching, photographing, traveling to farms and businesses, and other chores of a farm magazine editor. The intern will get to learn about farm reporting from the viewpoint of one of our premiere magazines.

The internship will last for approximately 10 weeks in the summer of 2008, with exact starting and ending dates determined by the student and the host.

The intern will earn a stipend of approximately $4,500. Thanks to the AAEA Professional Improvement Foundation for providing a grant and Smithfield Foods for helping sponsor the program. The intern will be responsible for travel to and from Minneapolis and for living expenses during the internship. (The host may be able to assist in securing living accommodations.)

One of the great bonuses of the AAEA internship is that it includes travel expenses, hotel accommodations, and registration fees to attend the Agricultural Media Summit in July in Florida. There, the intern will get to meet and mingle with hundreds of farm media professionals from AAEA and other farm media organizations.
