MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS |

Active membership shall be limited to persons in editorial staff positions, or freelancers who receive payment for editorial copy and/or photos for, general or specialized farm publications published in the United States, Mexico or Canada. Such publications must either (1) have paid circulation or (2) accept advertising on a paid basis. Freelance writers and/or photographers will be required to provide specific verification of their editorial copy and/or photos for said publications. Dues of active members are $170 per year.
Affiliate membership shall include those engaged in editorial, photographic, or public relations work directly related to agriculture but which does not meet the qualifications of an active member, or those engaged in agricultural communications work with a governmental agency, an educationa institution, or a charitable non-profit institution or foundation. Affiliate memberships are granted to those qualified persons whose affiliation with AAEA, in the judgment of the membership committee, is "in the best interests of the Association." Dues of affiliate members are $170 per year.
Student membership shall include full-time students enrolled in an approved agricultural communications curriculum at a college or university. Dues are $25.
Retired memberships are available for either active or affiliate members who are retiring and are at least 62 years of age. Annual dues are $80 and Retired (Lifetime) membership is $525.
Honorary life membership may be granted to members who have rendered distinguished service to the Association and to agriculture. Such membership must be approved by a majority vote of the active membership following a recommendation of the Membership Committee.
