Public Affairs Specialist
USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service is looking to fill a newly created Public Affairs Specialist position. We need someone with a strong ag background and excellent communications/PR/marketing skills and experience. This would be a great opportunity for someone from the private sector (association, media, or elsewhere) who is looking to get into government at a fairly senior level.

Freelance Ag Writer
Major publisher of corporate newsletters and Web sites seeks experienced writer in the Upper Midwest for freelance position. Solid interpersonal and communication skills are a must. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of agriculture and rural life and will have strong interviewing, writing and photography skills.
This position requires travel in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and Southern Nebraska.
Minimum qualifications for this position include:
o Bachelor's degree. Emphasis in journalism, corporate communications, or related field. Ag background preferred.
o Solid writing ability w/ emphasis on feature writing
o Strong photography skills with an emphasis on photo stories and essays
o Ability to represent the company in a professional manner before clients, their management and employees, and the public
o Publication design abilities are desirable
o Ability to join and adapt to a well-established team of journalists
o Ability to generate and develop story ideas
o Ability to follow established style guidelines and meet deadlines
o Self-motivated, responsible, mature
