Harvest is under way in many parts of North America. We are grateful for the hard work of our farmers in producing the food that feeds the world and thankful for the positive role played by the ag media industry in supporting them.

Lallemand Animal Nutrition is the largest manufacturer of yeast and bacteria. We research and develop natural products to enhance animal health and productivity. Our novel microorganisms include Levucell SC 1077 specifically isolated for its ability to positively affect the rumen. Our Biotal forage inoculant product range includes Lactobacillus buchneri 40788, the only strain FDA reviewed "for increased aerobic stability of silage and high moisture corn stored for not less than 60 days."

With corn prices approaching historic highs, dairy producers will be looking to make sure they have enough corn silage available to feed. The replacement cost of lost feed value (i.e. lost dry matter due to yeasts and molds or heating at feedout) is far higher than actual losses. Buying feed to replace lost corn silage will be several times the cost of producing good corn silage.

To preserve the most nutrients and dry matter, producers will need to use the best management practices available. Biotal Buchneri 500 forage inoculant contains a patented combination of Pediococcus pentosaceus 12455 and Lactobacillus buchneri 40788 to minimize losses throughout the ensiling process.

Our affiliations with independent research institutions and universities around the globe helps us identify new bacteria and yeast strains for agriculture production including products approved for use in organic production and antibiotic alternatives. We're proud of our rich 100-year history and look forward to many more years of serving America's farmers.
